In 2007, Spider-Man 3 swung into cinemas to become the first movie to feature the fan-favourite Marvel Comics character, Venom. The comic book movie introduced audiences to Edward ‘Eddie’ Brock Jr. and his symbiotic alter-ego Venom, and became the starting point for Venom’s big screen career.
But this really was just the starting point, as Venom would go on to bigger things. The character would eventually front his own series of films, with various symbiote hijinks taking place along the way.
But how many Venom movies are there? For all the details, keep reading.

The Venom movies

Spider-Man 3 (2007)
As noted above, Venom made his big screen debut in Spider-Man 3, the third film in director Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy from the 2000s. In this film, he appears as of one of the three villains in the story.
In the movie, an alien symbiote crash lands on Earth and bonds with Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Taking over Spidey’s mind and body, the symbiote begins to influence the wall-crawler in a negative way.
After Spider-Man removes the alien it bonds with disgraced Daily Bugle photographer, Edward Brock Jr., who just happens to have a hatred for Peter Parker. From here, Brock and the symbiote become Venom and seek revenge against Spidey. (139 mins)
Venom (2018)
Eleven years after he appeared on screen in Spider-Man 3, Venom returns for a solo reboot of the character. Starting the story from the very beginning, the symbiote bonds with troubled reporter Eddie Brock and the pair become the anti-hero, Venom!
The key difference between Venom’s first appearance in Spider-Man 3 and his subsequent appearance in this movie is the absence of Peter Parker/Spider-Man from the story. Neither Peter Parker nor Spider-Man appear in Venom, and as such the symbiote has a different journey. (112 mins)
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Picking up the story a few years after the events of Venom, and as Brock attempts to get his career back on track he finds himself spending time on a story involving convicted serial killer, Cletus Kasady. But when Kasady bonds with a deadly symbiote, he becomes the potentially unstoppable killer, Carnage! (97 mins)
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
In this next movie, Venom only appears very, very briefly. The movie is the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which sees Spider-Man team-up with alternate universe Spideys to take on a wealth of villains.
Venom’s appearance in this film is purely a cross-over cameo, which takes place during the mid-credits. In the scene, Eddie Brock is accidentally transported to the MCU. (148 mins)
Venom: The Last Dance (2024)
Back from his visit to the MCU, Eddie Brock is in trouble and on the run from the police following the events of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. However, his troubles only worsen when Knull, God of the Symbiotes, sends a hoard of symbiotes to track him down. (110 mins)
