In October 2000, comedy-drama series, Gilmore Girls arrived on TV. The series – created by Amy Sherman-Palladino – starred Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, and followed the story of a single mother and her daughter living in the town of Stars Hollow.
Upon making its debut, Gilmore Girls was a hit with audiences. The show became an instant classic, which kept it on air for multiple seasons.
But how many episodes of Gilmore Girls were produced, and did the show receive any follow-up? For all the details, keep reading.

Gilmore Girls: In Focus
As noted above, Gilmore Girls first hit screens in October 2000 with the opening episode, ‘Pilot‘. The show continued throughout the remainder of the year, as well as into 2001, clocking up 21 episodes during its first season.
Season two debuted in late 2001, continuing the story of Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory. This season ran for a further 22 episodes, concluding in May 2002.
A third season then followed, as did a fourth, a fifth, and a sixth. Each season comprised an additional 22 episodes.
In September 2006, the seventh and final season of Gilmore Girls hit television screens. Running another 22 episodes, this season concluded in 2007 with the episode, ‘Bon Voyage‘.
After 153 episodes, Gilmore Girls came to an end. However, this wasn’t the complete conclusion of the story.
In 2016, Gilmore Girls returned for a four-episode miniseries. The show – Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life – was made available to stream on Netflix.
In total, including the original series and the mini series, Gilmore Girls ran for 153 regular episodes, plus an additional four-episode sequel.
