In 2018, The Princess Switch bowed and curtsied its way onto Netflix. The romantic comedy, starring Vanessa Hudgens, was loosely based upon the 1881 Mark Twain novel The Prince and the Pauper, and focused on two identical girls who trade places: One a baker, the other a princess.

Upon release, The Princess Switch proved very popular with streamers, and this paved the way for a follow up. The sequel contained even more princess switching shenanigans, and led to a further film.

The Princess Switch (2018)

As noted above, the Princess Switch movie series began in 2018 with the debut of the romantic comedy, The Princess Switch. In the movie, Chicago baker, Stacy De Novo is in Belgravia to take part in a Christmas baking competition when she bumps into Lady Margaret.

To her surprise, Lady Margaret is her identical double. So much so, the two switch lives for the next couple of days. (101 mins)

The Princess Switch: Switched Again (2020)

In movie No.2, The Princess Switch: Switched Again, when Duchess Margaret unexpectedly inherits the throne to Montenaro, her love life hits a rough patch. Stacy jumps in to save the day, but there’s trouble ahead in the shape of a new lookalike: Party girl Fiona! (113 mins)

The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star (2021)

In movie No. 3, there’s trouble on the horizon once again, when a priceless relic is stolen. Queen Margaret and Princess Stacy require the help of Fiona and an unexpected switch to save the day. (106 mins)
