Think back to when you were a kid. If you were asked to list all the things you would love to do back then, what would you have said?

Would one of those things have involved Toys ‘R’ Us? How about having the ability to roam the aisles of Toys ‘R’ Us, taking what you want, without anyone stopping you?

Well, that’s sort of the dream scenario Channing Tatum gets to play in a forthcoming comedy-drama. In the film the actor takes on the role of former Army Ranger, Jeffrey Manchester, who finds himself living in secret inside a Toys ‘R’ Us!

And do you know what? This is all based on a true story.

The movie in the spotlight is Roofman. Directed by Derek Cianfrance, and based on a screenplay by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn, Roofman makes its debut this autumn (fall if you live in the US) and is shaping up to be an intriguing crime romp, filled with love, drama, and nostalgia.

Describing the new movie, Paramount Pictures, said: “Based on an unbelievable true story, Roofman follows Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), a former Army Ranger and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname: Roofman. After escaping prison, he secretly lives inside a Toys ‘R’ Us for six months, surviving undetected while planning his next move.

“But when he falls for Leigh (Kirsten Dunst), a divorced mom drawn to his undeniable charm, his double life begins to unravel, setting off a compelling and suspenseful game of cat and mouse as his past closes in.”

Joining Channing Tatum on screen is a top cast which includes Kirsten Dunst, Ben Mendelsohn, LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Melonie Diaz, Uzo Aduba, Lily Collias, Jimmy O. Yang, and Toxic Avenger star Peter Dinklage. I’m sure you’ll agree, there are some great names there, who should fit perfectly with the story being told.

However, the real appeal for some audiences will be the opportunity to return to the glory days of Toys ‘R’ Us. While the toy retailer does still exist in some form (in some countries), it’s nothing like it was, so Roofman might be the best opportunity anyone has to go back in time and relive their childhood dreams.

Anyways, should you wish to check out the movie, Roofman will be arriving in cinemas October 10th.
