List of DC Compact Comics

In 2024, DC Comics began publishing a series of trade paperbacks, collecting together key comic book stories from the DC Universe. These stories would feature iconic characters such as Batman, Superman, Harley Quinn, and Static, and would be reader-friendly tomes, ideal for newcomers who were not-so familiar with the characters or their stories.

Unlike previous books published by DC, these would be travel-sized collections, easier to take on journeys or to store at home. These ‘Compact Comics‘ would be smaller than standard sized graphic novels (coming in at 5.5 inches x 8.5 inches), and would be priced at $9.99, yet they would still carry the same top quality content.

Describing the books when they were first released, Anne DePies, SVP & General Manager for DC Comics, said: “This 5.5″ x 8.5″ paper cut is the most widely circulated softcover book size in the US and is popular among graphic novel aficionados in international markets. At $9.99, it’s a great price point for retailers to stock these classic titles. For readers, DC Compact Comics deliver a new graphic novel reading experience that fits in the palm of their hands, with no loss of readability.”

Upon release, DC’s ‘Compact Comics‘ were a hit. The smaller size and reduced price point was met with considerable approval from DC fans and readers alike, and the company pressed ahead with more titles.

If you’re not familiar with the books, these DC titles are more than worth checking out. The smaller size doesn’t restrict the reading quality, and the wallet-friendly price point makes them an ideal gift or a way to build a collection quickly
