In 1958, The Smurfs made their debut. Created by Belgian cartoonist, Peyo, the miniscule characters made their first appearance in comic strips before becoming the stars of cartoon shows, a successful toy line, and games.

Due to the incredible popularity of The Smurfs, the pint-sized pals also became the stars of a series of movies. But how many Smurfs movies are there?

In this post, I am presenting a list of all the Smurf movies. This list provides a rundown of the films, along with some additional details.

Les Adventures des Schtroumpfs / The Adventures of the Smurfs (1965)

In this first entry in the Smurfs movie series, five Smurf cartoon shorts are gathered together for a ‘compilation film’. The film sees the Smurfs involved in various adventures adapted from Peyo’s comic book stories. (90 mins)

La Flûte à six schtroumpfs / The Smurfs and the Magic Flute (1976)

In this next movie, the villainous McCreep steals the Smurfs’ magic flute, an instrument that makes people dance wildly. The Smurf King sends out Peewit to track down the thief and retrieve the flute. (71 mins)

Here are the Smurfs (1984)

Another ‘compilation film’ composed of episodes taken from the first season of Smurfs (1981), including The Smurf’s Apprentice and The Astro Smurf. (80 mins)

The Baby Smurf (1984)

Yet another ‘compilation film’. In this offering, the night of the blue moon delivers a strange present to the Smurfs: An adorable baby Smurf. (84 mins)

Smurfquest (1986)

The final entry in the Smurf ‘compilation’ films. Originally intended for a theatrical release, but ultimately released as the Season 6 premiere of the Smurfs cartoon. (90 mins)

The Smurfs (2011)

Over to big budget tales now in the live-action movie, The Smurfs. In this film, the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny Smurfs out of their village and into New York City. (103 mins)

The Smurfs 2 (2013)

The Smurfs return for a follow-up adventure to 2011’s The Smurfs. In this film, the Smurfs team up with their human friends to rescue Smurfette. (105 mins)

Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017)

In this animated offering, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her friends on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest, leading to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history. (90 mins)

Smurfs (2025)

In this animated film, Smurfette and No Name Smurf must seek out the mysterious ‘Ken’ in order to rescue Papa Smurf from the clutches of the evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel. (92 mins)
