If you wanted to make it in the big leagues, how far would you go? A little way, or all the way?
Don’t answer that question just yet, mull it over for a moment, and let someone else worry about it. That someone being Cameron Cade, the lead character in forthcoming horror movie, HIM.
The sinister sports horror makes its debut in September from Universal Pictures/Monkeypaw Productions, with a cast that includes Tyriq Withers, Marlon Wayans, Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, and Maurice Greene. The movie sees Cameron taken out of his comfort zone and sent on an unnerving journey.
The goal? The pursuit of excellence no matter what!
HIM is described as “a chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, idolatry and the pursuit of excellence at any cost.”
Setting out the premise of the new movie, Universal Pictures, said: “HIM stars former college wide-receiver Tyriq Withers (Atlanta, the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer) as Cameron Cade, a rising-star quarterback who has devoted his life, and identity, to football.
“On the eve of professional football’s annual scouting Combine, Cam is attacked by an unhinged fan and suffers a potentially career-ending brain trauma.
“Just when all seems lost, Cam receives a lifeline when his hero, Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), a legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar, offers to train Cam at Isaiah’s isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife, Elsie White (Julia Fox; Uncut Gems, No Sudden Move).
“But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker, sending his protégé down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for.”

HIM is produced by Ian Cooper (Nope, Us), Jordan Peele (Candyman, BlacKkKlansman), Win Rosenfeld (Candyman, Lovecraft Country) and Jamal M. Watson (Hala, Sprinter). David Kern and Kate Oh are on board as executive producers.
HIM is based on a script written by Skip Bronkie and Zack Akers, which originally carried the title, GOAT(Greatest of All Time). However, after the pair sold their script to Monkeypaw Productions, director Justin Tipping was brought on board the project and the film was retitled, HIM.
From here, the cast signed on, production ramped up, and everyone became focused on making something unique. After all, Monkeypaw Productions has a reputation for producing landmark horrors (Get Out, Us, Candyman, Nope) and the objective is to add HIM to this list.
Will the movie go the distsance? This will be a question audiences will need to field, rather than Cameron Cade.
Either way, we won’t have too long to wait and find out. Him lands in cinemas on September 19th.
