In 1960, Robert Redford took the tentative steps to begin his film career, by appearing in the television movie, Captain Brassbound’s Conversion. He then followed this up with an uncredited role in Tall Story.

Starting in the 1960s and as noted above, Robert Redford began his film career in small parts, initially in Captain Brassbound’s Conversion and then an uncredited role in Tall Story. From here he appeared in movies such as The Iceman Cometh, and The Chase.

Redford’s most notable role during this decade came in 1969, via the Western, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Often considered one of the all time greatest Westerns, Redford took on the role of the Sundance Kid opposite Paul Newman’s Butch Cassidy.

Into the 1970s and Redford began the decade playing Halsy Knox in Little Fauss and Big Halsy, before taking roles in The Hot Rock, and Jeremiah Johnson. In 1973 he starred alongside Barbra Streisand in The Way We Were, before re-teaming with Paul Newman in The Sting.

The 1970s was a big decade for Redford, with a number of high-profile films, including Three Days of the Condor, and A Bridge Too Far. He also played the role of Bob Woodward opposite Dustin Hoffman’s Carl Bernstein in the conspiracy thriller, All the President’s Men.
