In 1977, Mel Gibson made his film debut in the Australian thriller, Summer City. From here he followed up his acting work with further appearances in films such as Mad Max, Tim, and Attack Force Z.
To begin with (Mad Max aside) his on-screen roles were relatively small parts, but soon audiences started to pay attention and Gibson began to make a name for himself. This in turn increased his presence on the big screen, and propelled his career forward through a series of high-profile hits such as Bird on a Wire with Goldie Hawn, Air America with Robert Downey Jr., and Maverick with Jodie Foster.
During the 1980s and the 1990s in particular, Gibson was a household name and the lead star in a strong line-up of movies with Braveheart, and Ransom being just two notable titles. However, moving into the 2000s and beyond, his star status took a downturn and the movies he appeared in often reflected this.
But while Gibson no longer headlines films like he once did, he does continue to appear in pictures. He crops up in new movies with some frequency, including titles such as The Expendables 3 and Boss Level.
But how familiar are you with Mel Gibson’s back catalogue of movies? If you were asked to name more than half-a-dozen titles what would you be able to do that?
Well, don’t worry, because I can help. In this post you will find a list of all Mel Gibson’s movies, presented in chronological order, starting with minor roles and bit parts at the beginning of his career, and running through to more substantial roles when he really hit the big time!
