In 2011, IDW began publishing a series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics. The series – which began with a story from Tom Waltz and Kevin Eastman – reintroduced the Turtles to whole new generation of readers and was extremely popular.

Due to the success of IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic, more issues soon followed, as did various tie-ins, annuals, and one-shots. Some of these comics focused on established characters such as Leonardo and Splinter, while others centred around new mutants such as Old Hob and Jennika.

Over time, IDW’s TMNT comics became a sprawling playground of heroes, villains, and story arcs. So much so, it became difficult for readers to keep track of plot lines if they weren’t paying close attention.

However, IDW quickly rectified this with a series of TMNT trade paperbacks which collected together the comics in chronological order. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IDW Collection books would boast all the great action and stories from the individual issues, but they were brought together in an easily digestible way for readers to follow.
