How many 28 Days Later movies are there?

In 2002, horror movie, 28 Days Later stumbled its way into cinemas. The British film, about the destruction of society following a global pandemic, followed the story of four survivors as they try to avoid being infected by a virus.

In the movie, a ‘Rage Virus’ is accidentally unleashed on the public and it takes just one month for everyday life to come to a halt. The survivors of the virus then must do what they can to keep themselves safe from the infected, while at the same time avoid infection.

Produced on a budget of $8 million, 28 Days Later was a huge success taking over $84 million at the worldwide box-office. As a result of the film’s reception, further movies soon followed, expanding the series accordingly.

The 28 Days Later movies in order

28 Days Later (2002)

In the first entry in the series, the world begins to go to Hell when animal activists break into a top secret laboratory and unknowingly release chimpanzees infected with a pathogen known as the Rage Virus. Twenty-eight days later an injured bicyclist named Jim wakes up from a coma to discover the world has become overrun by infected, crazed humans.

28 Weeks Later (2007)

Picking up the story 28 weeks after the initial outbreak, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) have established safe zones in the UK. However, things soon go south when a young family break protocol and the Rage Virus is reintroduced into one of the safe zones.

28 Years Later (2025)

In the third entry in the series, events jump forward 28 years later and survivors have found ways to exist amidst the infected. But when a father and his son leave their small island and head to the mainland, they discover some new horrors.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026)

Shot back-to-back with 28 Years Later, this fourth instalment continues the story.
