In Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby, eight years have passed since Rosemary Woodhouse gave birth to a boy. That boy – named Andrew by Rosemary – is under the careful watch of a Satanic cult, led by Roman and Minnie Castevet, and is shortly set to be the centrepiece in a ritual.

But as the ritual gets underway, Rosemary takes the boy and flees. The cult attempts to track him down, with Roman reaching out to Andrew’s father, Guy – a now famous Hollywood star.

Fast forward once again and Andrew – now going by the name of Adrian – is in an adult back under the observation of Roman and Minnie. They have sinister plans for Andrew/Adrian, with the goal of using him to usher in a dark era.

Directed by Sam O’Steen, Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby stars Stephen McHattie, Patty Duke, and Ruth Gordon. The film is a TV movie sequel to 1968’s Rosemary’s Baby and is the second entry in the Rosemary’s Baby movie series.

Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby is also an oft-forgotten entry, which pretty much came and went in the ‘70s with few remembering it. This is because the film is largely pants, with little-to-no redeeming features and almost no real links to its predecessor.

Ruth Gordon is the only actor to reprise her role from the original film, popping up here and there as Minnie Castevet, but it is a completely superfluous return. Her screen time is limited, her part is thankless, and even she can’t seem to muster up enough enthusiasm to be bothered.

Why is she here? Presumably because someone chucked enough money at her and she was wise enough to take it (and why not?).

But is the film worth watching for Gordon alone? Nope, not on your nelly! It’s shit.

Divided into three chapters (The Book of RosemaryThe Book of Adrian, and The Book of Andrew), the film initially picks up directly after the events of Rosemary’s Baby before jumping forward eight years.

The second segment then jumps forward once again, this time to when Andrew/Adrian is in his late 20s. The third chapter focuses on Andrew dealing with amnesia and developing a relationship.

Of the three chapters, the first is mildly watchable, despite playing out like a riff on The Omen (ironic since Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby and The Omen debuted within months of each other), but the next two chapters are dire. Nothing much happens, there is countless babble about Andrew/Adrian’s destiny and the whole thing is boring beyond belief.

The film lacks spark, creativity, and any sense of flair. The story doesn’t go anywhere interesting, the characters are all forgettable, and the movie does nothing to warrant its existence.

Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby drags on for around 100 minutes and does nothing of any value with Andrew/Adrian. The film has no suspense, no tension, and no thrills, and the horror angle appears to have gone AWOL too.

If you’re a fan of Rosemary’s Baby, you’ve never seen or even heard of Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby, and you’re curious, READ THESE WORDS CAREFULLY: Don’t waste your precious time on this dross. Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby is a yawn-inducing snooze-fest which at best is a one-time watch, but the likelihood is few will ever actually finish it.

The film is rubbish, pure and simple. There is nothing of any value here, and it deserves to remain forgotten.

However, if you have lost all control of your senses and you are keen to check it out, your best bet is to head to YouTube, where you will occasionally find it doing the rounds. Outside of this, Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby did receive a DVD release in the US, but it’s not currently available (which we should all be thankful for).

Rating: 0.5 out of 5.
