And so it comes to this. After two middling, muddled, and at times frankly quite boring instalments, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths reaches its third and final offering.
If you’ve made it this far, congratulations, you must be made of stern stuff. Part One was a mixed bag, Part Two was filled with endless dialogue, and I can’t imagine anyone is champing at the bit for Part Three.
But hey ho, it’s here. And not only is this the final chapter in this three-part movie event, but it also features the final vocal performance for the late Kevin Conroy, who very briefly reprises the role of Batman from the ‘90s animated series as part of the film’s multiverse narrative.
Conroy features alongside a cast which includes Darren Criss, Stana Katic, Jensen Ackles, Will Friedle, and Meg Donnelly. Meanwhile Jeff Wamester directs, with the story picking up directly after the events of the previous chapter.

In the film, the multiverse is well and truly on its knees. Various heroes are doing their best to keep going, but hope is beginning to fade.
It’s fair to say, the shit hasn’t just hit the fan, it’s currently all over the rotor blades and is being flung far across the carpet. An event known as ‘The Bleed’ is causing monumental destruction on an unprecedented scale and this is not good.
In essence, it’s dark days for everyone, with past, present, and future all in flux, natural disasters happening left, right, and centre, and fricking dinosaurs and Nazis fighting various members of the Justice League. The end of everything is here.

So, if we are at a stage were things are drawing to a close and dinosaurs and Nazis are being flung at the screen, there’s got to be some level of entertainment in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three, right? Well, yes, there is.
The dinosaurs and Nazis are definitely a highlight of the film, and Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three does contain one or two decent scenes (including Conroy’s swansong), but let me just be clear here: This is still a bit of a bumpy ride. In order to really care about what is happening, you already need to be invested in the first two instalments, and I expect for most people that ship has sailed.
The key rule of releasing a trilogy of films is to ensure they are worth sticking with. These movies are not nearly as enjoyable as they really should be, and this is of course a problem however way you cut it.

Now, that said Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three is at least action-packed, which is more than can be said of its direct predecessor. So, if you just want to watch heroes being heroic then you at least get this in spades here.
There’s also some fun to be had across the multiverse. One highlight includes the complete destruction of the Teen Titans, while another involves a baby Darkseid.
But putting this to one side, the film still contains a drawn out plot and some clunky dialogue. Oh, and a cast of uninteresting characters – a problem which has plagued this whole movie trilogy.

While it is arguably a touch better than what came before, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three is probably only for those who really care by this point. If you’ve already checked out, then I’m not going to recommend you dive back in now, just move on and watch something else.
A few cameos and nods to DC past my tempt you, and that’s fine, but it’s not stellar stuff. This whole trilogy should have been amazing, but it’s not, so perhaps just be thankful this isn’t an awful end.
