In Spiders On a Plane, a British gangster with access to a batch of deadly experimental spiders, decides to ship the arachnids to his contact in the US. The spiders are boxed up in a crate, popped onto a commercial flight to Columbia, and sent on their merry way.

However, it’s not long before a spot of turbulence shakes up the crate and causes the spiders to break loose. The spiders then attack the passengers and crew, killing them off one-by-one, before threatening to bring the plane crashing to the ground.

Directed by Ben J. Williams, Spiders On a Plane is a low-budget, British independent horror movie starring Danielle Scott, Lila Lasso, Connor Powles, Jase Rivers, and Wayne Dobson. The film is available to rent or buy on digital platforms in the UK now, and should you have completely lost your senses, then you may wish to give it a watch.

However, if you are of sound mind and body, and you don’t have the time to watch utter twaddle, then you should probably give Spiders On a Plane a wide berth. There is nothing original in this film, and you’re not going to get much out of it unless you have a high tolerance for piss-poor CGI creepy crawlies.

In fairness to Spiders On a Plane, it is at least playful in places and the title is 100% accurate. If all you want is a film featuring spiders on a plane, you certainly get this, so it can’t be faulted on that front.

But in order to get your arachnids on an airline, you need to put up with terrible computer-generated spiders, cobwebs which look like Poundland decorations, awful lighting, some dreadful dialogue, costumes which are presumably the actors’ own, and a plane which clearly never leaves the ground. Oh, and there’s no tension in this movie, no suspense, and no real story.

The only people to come out of Spiders On a Plane with any dignity are actors Danielle Scott and Connor Powles, who play members of the cabin crew. Scott and Powles act as if they are in a different (and much better) movie, and you have to admire them for ignoring the reality of their situation and trying their best.

While Spiders On a Plane is a step up from director Ben J. Williams’ previous offering, the GOD AWFUL Dinosaur Hotel 3, this is still bottom of the barrel dreck and nothing more. How films like this continue to receive funding is beyond me.

Anyway, if you spend money on this film, you get what you pay for. Sadly, what you pay for is amateur crap with shit spiders.

Rating: 1 out of 5.
