In 2002, the American reality show, The Bachelor, made its debut. Created by Mike Fleiss, the series – which aired on ABC – revolved around romance and relationships.
In the series, a single man is given the opportunity to choose a fiancée from a collection of potential candidates. Each week, he must elimante someone from the process, as he moves closer to the final round where he will hopefully find a life-long partner.
Upon making its debut in 2002, the first season of The Bachelor was a huge hit with audiences. As such, a second season followed during the same year, with two further seasons airing in 2003, along with a spin-off show titled The Bachelorette.
From here, the shows continued, as The Bachelor expanded and become a media franchise, encompassing various new spin-offs in the process. Some of these spin-offs lasted for one season, while others had a little more longevity.
