In 2000, US author Jim Butcher published the fantasy novel, Storm Front. The book followed the story of professional wizard, Harry Dresden, who becomes caught up in a collection of murders involving magic.

Due to the popularity of Storm Front, Butcher published a follow-up novel in 2001 under the title of Fool Moon, this was quickly accompanied by a third novel, Grave Peril. The books were known collectively as The Dresden Files, named after lead protagonist Harry Dresden.

Over the course of time the book series expanded. It also picked up a loyal following from fans of the fantasy genre.
