In 1991, US author Diana Gabaldon published the historical fantasy novel, Outlander. Initially set around the events of World War II, the book  followed the story of nurse Claire Beauchamp, who travels back in time to 1743, while on a second honeymoon in Scotland.

Upon arriving in the past, Claire meets highland warrior Jamie Fraser. She also discovers adventure and romance, and events which change her life.

Due to the popularity of Outlander, in 1992 Gabaldon published the follow-up novel, Dragonfly in Amber. This book continued Claire and Jamie’s adventures, expanding the story across different time periods.

A third novel, Voyager arrived in 1994, followed by a fourth in 1997 titled Drums of Autumn. Further novels soon followed, as did a spin-off series focusing on the semi-regular character Lord John Grey.

But if you’re new to the Outlander book series you may be wondering about the order of the novels. You may also want to know the titles of all the books.

Below you’ll find all those details. This post includes the publishing order of the Outlander novels, as well as the publishing order of the spin-off series, Lord John.
