In 2000, Koichi Ohata directed a short, Japanese, 3D animated movie based on the Resident Evil computer game series. The short – titled Biohazard 4D-Executer – centred around a military squad who are sent to the zombie-ridden Raccoon City to locate a missing scientist called Dr. Cameron, who is conducting research on a new type of virus.
Running 20-minutes in length, and given a limited release, Biohazard 4D-Executer, became a success at Japanese theme parks and small movie theatres, and proved the Resident Evil games could be adapted into computer-generated animation. This in turn paved the way for a series of unconnected, feature-length animated movies, which soon followed and told a more expansive story.

The feature-length movies – which focused on lead character, Leon S. Kennedy – would begin in 2008 with Resident Evil: Degeneration. The series would then continue over subsequent years, building up a neat little collection of films in the process.
But how many animated Resident Evil movies are there, and more importantly, what is the viewing order of the films? For all the details, keep reading.
