Making its debut this October is the latest entry in the Pet Sematary movie series. The film – directed by Lindsey Anderson Beer – is called Pet Sematary: Bloodlines and is a fantasy horror prequel to 2019’s remake of Pet Sematary.
Starring Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lind, Pam Grier, Samantha Mathis, and David Duchovny, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is set in 1969, fifty years before the events of Pet Sematary. The movie follows the story of young Jud Crandall, who dreams of escaping his hometown until he discovers the secrets of the town cemetery.
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines premieres at Fantastic Fest on September 23rd, and will be arriving on Paramount+ and video-on-demand from October 6th. The film makes its debut in time for the Halloween season, and due to its connection to Stephen King’s novel, Pet Sematary, it is expected to catch the attention of plenty of horror fans.
But if you’re thinking about checking out the movie, will it be suitable for say, a teenager, or maybe even the rest of the family? To put it simply: What is the age rating of Pet Sematary: Bloodlines?

In the US, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines has been granted an ‘R’ rating by the Motion Picture Association (MPA). Pet Sematary: Bloodlines has received this rating due to horror violence, gore, and language.
An ‘R’ rating in the US means the film is considered ‘restricted’ because it contains some adult material. Anyone can watch an ‘R’ rated movie, but those under the age of 17 are cautioned.
With ‘R’ rated movies, the MPA urges parents to check out the film before showing it to their teens or their young children. As Pet Sematary: Bloodlines will be arriving on streaming, and therefore directly into peoples’ homes, parents may want to watch the film first, before sharing it with teens etc.

In the UK, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines has been given a ’15’ certificate by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). Pet Sematary: Bloodlines has received this certificate by the BBFC due to strong bloody violence, gore, threat, and language.
A ’15’ certificate means the film is considered unsuitable for anyone under the age of 15. If the film was playing in cinemas in the UK, audiences under 15 would not be permitted to view Pet Sematary: Bloodlines on the big screen.
As the film will be arriving on streaming, rather than in cinemas, where young children could have fairly easy access to the movie, parents may want to be mindful of this. They may also wish to check out the movie first, before allowing anyone under 15 to view it.

So, back to the earlier question, what is the age rating of Pet Sematary: Bloodlines? Well, in the US it is an ‘R’ rated movie, while in the UK it is a ’15’ certificate film.
The film’s arrival on streaming means young children will have easier access to the film than they would in a cinema, so you may want to keep this in mind if you’re wondering about its suitability for teenagers or younger children.
