Understanding Castlevania

As noted above, Castlevania began as a four-episode series in 2017. When the show proved popular with viewers it was quickly followed by a second season in 2018, with the episode count rising by eight new episodes.
Much to the delight of Netflix, season two was also a hit, and so this was soon accompanied by a third season in 2020, and a fourth season in 2021. Each of these additional seasons were ten episodes long, taking the overall episode count up to 32.
After four seasons and 32 episodes, Castlevania concluded its story, but this wasn’t the end of the road. In 2023, a spin-off show arrived on Netflix called Castlevania: Nocturne.
This new show followed Richter Belmont – a descendent of the Belmont family. He was accompanied by his adoptive sister Maria Renard, as well as the dhampir Alucard.
Due to the popularity of Castlevania: Nocturne, as well as the positive critical response, the show was renewed for a second season.
