In 1994, writer/director, Kevin Smith, made his directorial debut with the black-and-white movie, Clerks. The low budget comedy, filmed in convenience stores where Smith worked, followed the story of store clerks Dante and Randal, as they go about their jobs.
Although the movie did not feature any huge production values, and the story was limited in scope and scale, Clerks proved popular with critics and audiences alike. Upon release it became a box office success, grossing over $4 million from a budget of $27,575.
Not only did Clerks prove popular, and make a great deal of cash, but the film also introduced two side characters called Jay and Silent Bob. Jay was played by Jason Mewes, while Silent Bob was played by Smith.
These characters would go on to appear in further movies from Smith, with this collection of movies becoming known as the View Askewniverse. Some of these movies were directly about Jay and Silent Bob, while others simply included the characters as extended cameos.
But how many Kevin Smith View Askewniverse movies are there? For all the details and more, keep reading.
