In 2011, US horror anthology show, American Horror Story made its debut. The show began with an initial 12-episode season, which carried the subtitle ‘Murder House‘, and focused on a young family in a haunted house.
The season was given a subtitle because it was designed to be a self-contained story. The premise set out in episode one was to conclude by episode 12, wrapping up the storyline accordingly.
When the show returned for a second season in 2012, it was given the new title of ‘Asylum‘. As the title suggested, the events of this season took place in and around an asylum, with the story spread across 13 episodes.
Moving forward, with each new season of the show came a new subtitle, a new setting, a new storyline, and a new cast of characters. Many of the same actors appeared across the seasons, but for the most part the actors played different roles unrelated to what came before, and audiences enjoyed what was on offer.
But if you’re new to American Horror Story and you’re not familiar with the different seasons or the different titles, things can get a little confusing. However, there’s no need to get confused, as it’s pretty straight forward and easy to follow (when you know how).
Below you’ll find a list of all the seasons of American Horror Story presented in production order. This list will help guide you through the show, season-by-season, so that you’ll not get lost along the way.
