In 1970, disaster drama, Airport, landed in cinemas. The film – based on the novel of the same name by Arthur Hailey – followed the story of an airport manager attempting to keep his airport open during a snowstorm, while a suicide bomber attempts to blow up a Boeing 707 mid-flight.

Although Airport wasn’t met with a warm reception from critics, it did prove successful at the box office. As such, a series of sequels soon followed, which popped up throughout the 1970s.

But how many Airport movies are there? For all the details, keep reading.
