Set to drop on Netflix this week is the South Korean action-adventure drama, Bloodhounds. The new series – adapted from a webtoon by Jung Chan – centres on two young boxers as they band together against a notorious loan shark who is preying on the poor.
According to Netflix, “This exhilarating series thrusts a compassionate rookie boxer into the perilous world of loan sharks, where he and a fellow newcomer confront ruthless loan sharks who lurk around every corner, waiting to strike.
“A departure from the norm, Bloodhounds offers a sense of purpose and camaraderie among the determined youths and good-hearted individuals, while still packing a punch with adrenaline-fueled action and intense, bloody battles.”

Bloodhounds is an eight-episode series, produced by Studio N, SEE AT Film, and Seven O six. The show is directed by Jason Kim, who is known for hits such as Midnight Runners and The Divine Fury, and as with these titles, Bloodhounds promises to be action-packed.
Kim said: “The action scenes in this series are five times more intense than those in Midnight Runners.”

Playing the lead characters in Bloodhounds are Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi. Woo plays rookie boxer Kim Gun-woo, while Lee plays southpaw boxer Hong Woo-jin.
Prior to playing their parts, both actors went through intensive training to ensure they could bring a sense of realism and authenticity to the screen. This involved adhering to a strict diet, including eating four meals a day, and finding time in their schedules for plenty of gym time.
Woo Do-hwan said: “I trained extensively before and after filming, gaining about 10kg.” He continued: “I believe viewers will notice the changes in my physique throughout the series.”
Lee Sang-yi said: “I never went to the gym so diligently in my life until now.” He added: “I felt as if I had become an athlete.”

When Bloodhounds lands on Netflix, the show promises to serve up plenty of exciting action scenes, which should keep viewers thoroughly entertained. Netflix suggests it will be “more than just a nail-biting showdown between good and evil, it is a story of two loyal friends—and the lengths they would go to protect those they love.”
Should you wish to watch Bloodhounds, the new series will be available to stream on Netflix in full from Friday 9th June.
