In 2001, Grant Morrison took over writing duties on Marvel’s X-Men comic. Working with illustrator, Frank Quitely, Morrison took Marvel’s merry mutants in a new direction, with new costumes, new characters, and even a new name, the appropriately titled ‘New X-Men’.

New X-Men became a jumping on point for new readers and it provided Morrison with the opportunity to explore different facets of the X-Men mythology. He wrote some compelling stories and his run on the book (just over 40 issues) proved to be very popular.

If you missed New X-Men the first time around, don’t worry, Marvel has published all of the Morrison/Quitely-era of X-Men tales in a collection of New X-Men trade paperbacks. What are they? Well, I knew you’d ask that question, which is why I have provided a handy list below!
