Howdy folks, it’s only bloomin’ Friday! That means the weekend is just around the corner.
OK, so I know this is going to be a strange weekend, what with it being Easter and all, but try to make the best of it. Call, Skype, text or email your friends and family and stay connected – Easter hasn’t been cancelled, we just have to do things differently this year.
Now before I crack on with today’s edition of ‘Something to read when you’re bored’, I wanted to share an image with you that I took yesterday morning. I had to pop into the city centre to pick up a prescription, and it was a very strange experience, I don’t mind telling you.
I have lived in Manchester for 13 years, and I have never seen the city centre so quiet. Here is a shot of Shambles Square – a popular drinking destination that was devoid of any people.
I have never seen this place so empty and peaceful. Not one person.
Of course, this is good, as it means folks are sticking to the lockdown rules, but it was still a strange experience. An experience that hopefully won’t last too long.
While in Manchester I have lived through the Credit Crunch, the riots, the arena bomb, and now I am living through a virus. It’s bizarre – yet I know it will come to an end sooner rather than later, and places like Shambles Square will be filled with happy people once more.
OK, let’s take a look at some news…
If you have little ones who love, love, LOVE Lego, then you might like to know that Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester is currently sharing a number of videos to encourage Lego fans to build!
The videos can be viewed on social media, so if you are on Facebook, head on over to the Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester FB page to view the videos. Here you will see Master Model Builder, James constructing some truly inspiring designs, including a rainbow heart, a teddy bear and more!
Somebody’s watchin’ me
Feel like watching something a little spooky today? What about the Paranormal Activity movies?
Oh, I have piqued your interest. Well, if you do decide to give the PA films a go, then you are going to need to know how many there are and what the best viewing order is for the series.

What’s on my plate?
Back by popular demand (because YOU begged me), is yet another look into the eating habits of our household. And as I lift the lid on yet another homemade meal, I hear you ask the question ‘what is on your plate?!’
Why, it’s a fake, fake Nando’s of course!
Obviously we don’t have access to Nando’s at the moment, so I improvised to make this fake, fake version.
Why is it fake, fake?
Well, a.) it isn’t a Nando’s and b.) the chicken has been replaced by Quorn nuggets!
The meal consists of a pitta bread (cut in two), some quorn nuggets, a little bit of shredded iceberg lettuce, some cucumber and some Nando’s peri-peri sauce. All served alongside some spicy(ish) rice and a bit of avocado.
Where did I get the spicy rice? Again, I improvised.
I had a sachet of paella mix in the cupboard, so I sprinkled some of it into a pan that contained plain ol’ boiled rice. I then cooked the two together, and voila, spicy(ish) rice.
And now you know.
The horror, the horror
Let’s rewind the clock now, to October 2018. And in the run-up to Halloween I attended Grimmfest.
Not sure what Grimmfest is? Then take a look at my overview of what turned out to be an AWESOME horror festival.
