I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)

The first entry in the I Know What You Did… movie series is 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer. In this film, teenagers Julie James, Ray Bronson, Helen Shivers, and Barry Cox are out on the road at night when they accidentally hit a pedestrian with their car.

Believing they have killed him, they dump his body in the sea and agree to never discuss what has happened. However, a year later the group begin to receive a series of strange messages which suggest someone knows that they did the previous summer.

Over the coming days, Julie, Ray, Helen, and Barry, as well as a number of their acquaintances, become the target of a mysterious killer. Decked out in a raincoat and carrying a hook in his hand, this killer has revenge on his mind, but could it really be the person they knocked down and killed a year ago? (101 mins)

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998)

Upon release, I Know What You Did Last Summer was a box-office hit, taking over $125 million from a budget of $17 million. As a result, a sequel was quickly put into production arriving in cinemas in 1998 under the title, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

In this film, a year has passed since her encounter with the hook-wielding killer, and Julie James is suffering from nightmares. But things begin to look up when Julie’s college roommate wins a radio contest to The Bahamas and Julie is invited.

Julie takes boyfriend Ray along, for what should be a fantastic vacation. However, things soon begin to sour when bodies begin to pile up and it seems as if the killer is stalking them once more. (100 mins)

I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006)

Although I Still Know What You Did Last Summer was a box-office hit back in 1998, critics weren’t particularly keen on the second entry and the fan reception wasn’t hot on it either. As such, the series went on hiatus before a third entry materialised.

This third entry finally arrived in 2006 as a direct-to-DVD affair titled I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer. This instalment was conceived as a stand-alone entry, with no connection to the previous films, and instead introduced new characters Amber, Colby, Zoe, Roger, and PJ. (89 mins)

I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)

After the direct-to-DVD release of I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer it seemed as if the movie series was officially done. Entries two and three did little to impress audiences, and life moved on.

However, as it turned out the series was merely on hiatus again, and in 2025 a fourth film appeared. This picture – titled I Know What You Did Last Summer – was to act as a direct sequel to the first two films (ignoring the third), and would bring back franchise favourites Julie James and Ray Bronson.

Titled I Know What You Did Last Summer, this film would be both a sequel and a soft reboot of the series. It would also screen in cinemas, unlike movie number three. (111 mins)
