It’s getting close to 3am in the UK, so it’s a little late to be updating this blog, but Marvel Studios has announced the line-up for Phase 4 (i.e. all of the new material after Spider-Man: Far From Home.

It is:

  • Black Widow – May 2020
  • The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV show – Autumn 2020
  • The Eternals – Nov 2020
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – Feb 2021
  • WandaVision TV show – Spring 2021
  • Loki TV show – Spring 2021
  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – May 2021
  • What If animated TV show – Summer 2021
  • Hawkeye TV show – Autumn 2021
  • Thor: Love and Thunder – Nov 2021

Details to know:

  • Black Widow will feature David Harbour and Rachel Weisz and is set in Budapest.
  • Baron Zemo will return to the MCU to appear in The Falcon and the Winter Solider.
  • The rumours have been confirmed, The Eternals DOES star Angelina Jolie.
  • The Shang-Chi movie will star Simu Liu in the title role and will feature The Mandarin (the REAL Mandarin).
  • WandaVision is set after Endgame.
  • The Loki TV show will take place after Loki slipped away from the Avengers in Endgame. This means he is not the Loki that appeared in Thor: Ragnarok, but rather the trickster of his early appearances in the MCU.
  • The Doctor Strange sequel is going to be a horror movie and will feature the Scarlet Witch.
  • Many MCU actors will lend their voices to the What If animated movie.
  • Kate Bishop will feature in the Hawkeye TV show.
  • As previously announced, Chris Hemsworth will be reprising the role of Thor for a fourth solo movie, which is now titled Thor: Love and Thunder. Tessa Thompson is back as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman will be on board as the Jane Foster Thor!

Let’s just take a moment to look at the new Thor 4 logo…

More details:

No dates have been announced, but Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Captain Marvel 2 and Fantastic Four are all on their way.

Oh and this…

Mahersela Ali has been cast as Blade – but there are no details on when he will appear. Is this a show or a movie?!

*Takes a deep breath*

Personally I’m very excited for What If and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and very intrigued by WandaVision. How is Vision still alive?

I know next to nothing about The Eternals and Shang-Chi, so I’m interested to learn more about these characters. And the Loki show could be fun.

But forgetting all of that – I’m so excited for Blade (hell, yes) and Jane Foster as Thor!

I have been hoping for this for some time. The Jane Foster run of Thor comics were so good and I can’t wait to see Portman finally given something to do in the MCU!

*Takes another deep breath*

So, what do you think?

Are you happy or surprised about the announcements? No news on the next Spider-Man film, but that will no doubt come from Sony at some point in the not-too distant future.

Sound off in the comments section below and let me know your thoughts about all of the above projects.
