Disney’s forthcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid has found its lead!

According to multiple sources, Halle Bailey is taking on the role of Ariel in the new movie, which is currently in the works from the Mouse House.

Oh… and the internet isn’t happy.

Why isn’t the internet happy?

*Sigh*

Because Bailey doesn’t look like her cartoon counterpart as a.) she is a person of colour, b.) she doesn’t have red hair, and c.) isn’t Zendaya.

Yeah, from some of the comments I’ve read tonight (on comments sections online), some people are fine with Ariel being portrayed by a person of colour, but only if it’s Zendaya.

Anyway, Bailey – of RnB duo Chloe X Halle – is our new Ariel.
