Welcome to 50 first times; the movie-related post in which I watch, discuss and debate films that I’VE NEVER SEEN. I aim to work my way through 50 movies that I’ve previously missed/avoided, recording my thoughts along the way.
This collection of posts is a follow-up to 90 from the ’90s. However, while I previously focused on films from the 1990s, this time around I’m widening the field to cover any movie from any decade.
I’m going to watch good films, bad films, forgotten classics, Oscar winners and everything in between. Today I’m watching…
What We Do in the Shadows (2014)
This film has been recommended to me on a number of occasions, but up until now I’ve not made time for it. Today I’m clearing 90 minutes in my schedule to give it a whirl.
I say “schedule” as if I actually have lots on today.
I’ll simply switch off Netflix and switch on Amazon Prime.
I have that kind of power. And free time.
- Darts with a bow and arrow.
- “We should get some slaves.”
- “We’re werewolves, not swearwolves.”
- “I really hope that those guys don’t kill those police, because it will mean more police will come, possibly even Christians, which is totally the last thing we need in this house.”
- ‘The Procession of Shame.’
- The werewolves, the police, and the dog.
I can’t believe it has taken me so long to watch this film. I should stop wasting my time on unimportant things and…
*Gets distracted by Facebook*
*Starts scrolling through Facebook*
*Three hours pass*
…yeah, so I should stop wasting my time on unimportant things and… er… what was I saying?
Oh yes. What We Do in the Shadows is a sort of mash up of This is Spinal Tap and Interview with a Vampire and it’s great. The film takes a simple concept and runs with it for comedic effect.
I’m so glad I finally watched it!
