If you’ve opened up this little post then you’re probably wondering what the Eastrail 177 Trilogy is? Well, I’m here to explain.

The Eastrail 177 Trilogy – also known as The Unbreakable Trilogy – is a collection of movies from director M. Night Shyamalan. The name Eastrail 177 is taken from the movie, Unbreakable (2000) and refers to a train crash which happens early into the film, which sets the story in motion.

In the film, a train crash occurs killing everyone on board with the exception of security guard, David Dunn. Dunn’s miraculous survival is then brought into question, and leads to the suggestion there might be something extraordinary about him.

The Eastrail 177 Trilogy is NOT based on a comic book, BUT the movies focus on the idea of real-world super heroes & villains.

Unbreakable, in particular, plays upon many tropes established in the super hero/comic book genre (costumes, abilities etc). The film is often considered to be one of the best entries in the super hero/comic book genre, even though the story is not adapted from a comic.

Should you want to visit/revisit any of the movies that feature in the Eastrail 177 Trilogy, then all are available on DVD and Blu-ray. Digital copies of Unbreakable, Split, and Glass are also available to purchase digitally from Amazon.

And now you know.
