Aquaman (2018) has overtaken Wonder Woman (2017) at the worldwide box office.
The movie – the sixth entry in the Worlds of DC series – has now taken more money than Wonder Woman. The film has accumulated $822 million to Wonder Woman‘s $821 million.
At present, Aquaman is now the second most successful movie in the current crop of DC films; second only to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).
In order to surpass BvS, Aquaman needs an additional $52 million – something it should achieve over the coming weeks, if not sooner.
Here are the current worldwide box office stats for the six films:
- Batman v Superman – $873,634,919
- Aquaman – $822,037,603
- Wonder Woman – $821,847,012
- Suicide Squad – $746,846,894

OK, so how does the film stack up in the grand scheme of things – i.e. when compared to every DC movie EVER, how successful is it?
Well, thanks to its international performance, Aquaman is proving very successful indeed.
At present, Aquaman is now Warner Bros. Pictures’/DC Entertainment’s fourth highest grossing DC movie. The film sits behind The Dark Knight Rises (2012), The Dark Knight (2008) and BvS to take fourth place.
