Love old  school SEGA games from the ’90s?

Got yourself a Nintendo Switch?

Then today is a good day for you (and me) as it has been announced that SEGA is bringing its Classics collection to the Switch later this year. The SEGA Mega Drive Classics collection (SEGA Genesis in the US) will include more than 50 retro games, ranging from Sonic the Hedgehog, ToeJam & Earl and Altered Beast to Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Alex the Kidd.

The SEGA Mega Drive Classics collection is already available on other consoles, however, according to Eurogamer, the Nintendo Switch version adds local co-op abilities, via a split-screen. This feature joins the regular features which include mirror modes, online multiplayer and rewind and save states.

The release of this collection excites me and hopefully will get me to dust off my Switch, which I must admit I’ve severely neglected as of late. I much prefer retro games to modern titles (I know, I’m getting old) so collections like this always interest me, even if I already own a Mega Drive… and have Sonic the Hedgehog on multiple platforms.

And while I’m on the subject of the Switch, Nintendo recently released details regarding the console’s new online membership service. The service includes back-up capabilities, access to a collection of NES games (yay) and more.
