Another busy day today, but I still managed to fit in a movie for 60 Days of Halloween and that movie was Nightmare City (1980).
If you’ve never watched Nightmare City then do yourself a favour… and skip it. After 90 minutes of viewing, I’m not entirely sure what I just watched and I’m pretty certain it didn’t make any sense.
*Thinks about it for a moment*
Yeah, it didn’t make any sense at all.
Directed by Umberto Lenzi, Nightmare City focuses on a zombie outbreak that… ah heck, here’s the movie’s synopsis according to Wikipedia:
“The film stars Hugo Stiglitz as a television news reporter who witnesses the collapse of order in a city overrun by irradiated blood-drinking ghouls. Victims of the ghouls rise from the dead to join the host, adding to the chaos.”
Here’s what you really need to know:
The “irradiated blood-drinking ghouls” look shockingly bad; the film has some very bad dubbing; and the film isn’t scary in the slightest. There is a mildly cool scene during the first act which involves a plane filled with zombies, but beyond that it’s all pretty rubbish.
Tomorrow I’m heading back into more familiar territory with a Halloween classic from Disney. It’ll be short, but sweet.
