Let’s hear it for the ladies – DC Entertainment is developing a new live TV series based around Stargirl.

According to Superhero Hype, DC’s Geoff Johns announced the news today, during a spotlight panel. The new show will appear on DC Universe – DC Entertainment’s new streaming service – with Johns acting as a writer and producer.


Stargirl – as it’s tentatively titled – will be produced through Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions. No release date has been given yet.

Introduced in 1999, Stargirl – aka Courtney Whitmore – made her debut in the comic, Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. Outside of the comics, the character has appeared in live-action via episodes of Smallville and Legends of Tomorrow, as well as in animation in Justice League Unlimited and Justice League Action.
