The ongoing bidding war between Disney and Comcast over who will own 21st Century Fox has just hit a very, very important milestone – Comcast has bowed out.

In a statement, via Variety, the company said: “Comcast does not intend to pursue further the acquisition of the Twenty-First Century Fox assets and, instead, will focus on our recommended offer for Sky.”

With Comcast out, Disney is now the only company in the running to buy 21st Century Fox. As the deal has pretty much already been given the go-ahead – bar a few last minute wrinkles – this could mean that The Walt Disney Company is on a clear path to owning all of Fox’s back catalogue of properties, including the X-Men, Fantastic Four, The Simpsons and many, many more.

So, could yesterday’s X-Men-related tease from Marvel have something to do with this?

Thoughts and speculations in the comments section, please.
