Remember a couple of days ago, when I posted about The Great Crumpet Shortage of ’18? Remember how it seemed a little worrying, because it wasn’t just crumpets that were in short supply, but also beer and pop (and to a lesser extent lettuce)?

Yeah, well things are about to get worse. Much, much worse.

I hate to break it to you, but we’re on the precipice of a crisp shortage. I repeat: A crisp shortage!

According to The Times the weather is to blame for this one. The combination of cold weather at the start of the year, mixed with very hot weather at present is playing merry hell with potato crops.

Co-found of Piper Crisps, Alex Albone said: “There is a danger we will have a crisp crisis.”

Countless crisp connoisseurs across the country could soon find themselves completely devoid of their favourite snacks. That’s no ready salted, no smokey bacon and maybe no salt and vinegar.

*Wipes sweat from brow*

Jeez, if this crisp crisis gets into full-swing, we’ll all have to eat the cheese and onion crisps that have been chucked to the back of the cupboard. You know, the one’s that only get eaten when everything else in the house has been devoured.

Anyway, fingers crossed this crisp crisis is averted.
