This weekend, Avengers: Infinity War opens in China – one of the most profitable markets in the world. Friday is the big day, and will usher in the third big weekend for the Marvel movie.

Many are predicting Infinity War will open big. Many would be right, because the movie has already broken a record – and this is long before a single reel of film has even been shown.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Infinity War has broken the record for the largest amount of ticket pre-sales sold in China. The movie has currently sold around $47.5 million (RMB 302 million) in early ticket sales, surpassing the previous record holder, Monster Hunt 2 (2018) which sold $47 million (RMB 300 million) in ticket sales prior to the movie’s debut.

All-in-all, Infinity War is already off to a good start in China and it’s still only Wednesday. It’ll be interesting to see what the movie achieves by the end of the week.

Meanwhile, over here in the UK, Infinity War continues to maintain a strong showing and has, to date, contributed more than $41 million to the movie’s overall total of $1,226,964,425 at the worldwide box office. Going into this third weekend, the film remains a big draw at the cinema with no significant competition.
