If you ever subscribed to Nerd Block then you’ll know two things.
One: Nerd Block was a subscription-based service which provided subscribers with a range of geek-filled memorabilia all delivered to your door on a monthly basis.
Two: Nerd Block went into bankruptcy in 2017 and left many subscribers out of pocket.
The second of those two points is particularly important.
Right, now let’s fast forward to the present for something equally as important: Nerd Block is returning. A new company is now in the driving seat, with plans to relaunch the subscription service this year.
When Nerd Block took to Twitter to announce this news it didn’t go down too well. You see, while the new owners – Nerd Block Enterprises – were not to blame for the past troubles experienced with the subscription service, the former customer base was less than enthused about the idea of a revival and voiced their concerns accordingly.
It now appears that the people behind Nerd Block have listened to the customer feedback and they want to address this before moving forward. Today, Nerd Block reached out to customers via email, to talk about compensation.
The email said:
“After reading through all of your comments and emails carefully, we have some big announcements to share with you over the coming weeks!
“Our first order of business is clear, which is to compensate anyone who paid for a box that was never shipped or refunded. If you qualify as one of these customers, we will be offering you a credit to your choice of one of our partnering online stores. We are currently in discussions to secure a wide selection of awesome and geeky products, and hope to announce the participating stores within the next 30 days.
“With that in mind, if you previously paid for a box that was never never shipped or refunded, and you haven’t reached out already, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. In order to qualify, we’ll need to collect some information to help us verify the amount you are owed, and that you haven’t received a refund from your credit card provider.
“If you are not one of these customers, fear not! We’re arranging some exciting offers for you too! 🙂
“Stay tuned for more updates and details, we have much more exciting news to share.
“The Nerd Block Team”
At present, nothing else has been said – The Nerd Block website simply contains a message detailing the company’s return, but no mention of the compensation. But compensation or no compensation, would you resubscribe to the service?
That is of course the question that faces Nerd Block moving forward, but at least the new owners are trying to make amends, right?
What do you think? Do you think the time for mystery subscription boxes is over or do you think there’s still some life left in Nerd Block and the like? More importantly, do you think “a credit to your choice of one of our partnering online stores”, is the right type of compensation?
