Well, now this is interesting…
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) has just become the highest grossing Sony movie in the US. The film – which stars Dwayne Johnson – takes the crown away from Spider-Man (2002), which has held the domestic title for the past 16 years.
Wow, let’s just hold up here a second. Spider-Man is 16 years old? Jeez, where the heck has the time gone?!
Anyway, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is now Sony’s most profitable movie domestically, having taken $403,714, 915 to Spider-Man‘s $403,706,375. Pretty close, right?
According to Box Office Mojo, in total Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has raked in $950,803,053 at the worldwide box office. This makes the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Sony’s second highest grossing movie of all-time, behind Skyfall (2012).
I think it’s safe to say we will DEFINITELY be seeing a few Jumanji sequels over the coming years.
