Interesting news this morning, folks – Fox is currently developing yet another entry in its ever expanding X-Men movie series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool director Tim Miller and comic book scribe Brian Michael Bendis are joining forces to create the new movie, which is currently being developed under the title, ‘143’. The projects is understood to be a solo movie for the ‘phasing’ mutant, Kitty Pryde.
The working title is a reference to issue #143 of Uncanny X-Men – a story in which Kitty encounters a demon, while she is home alone in the X-Mansion. The story was the first solo tale to feature Kitty Pryde.
No word on who will be taking on the role of Kitty, if the movie becomes a reality. Ellen Page played the role in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
You’re probably now questioning why Fox is still developing X-Men movies, what with a potential studio sale to Disney on the horizon? Well, that deal isn’t signed, sealed and delivered just yet, so Fox continues to operate as usual until such time as Disney takes over. If Disney takes over.
Rumours of a Kitty Pryde movie have been doing the rounds since the start of the year. This is just one of many projects that Fox has in the pipeline. Later today, I’ll post a list of what Fox has on the slate.
