Today’s edition of Out of the Toy Box is looking at a new range of Funko toys which have just hit shops – Warner Bros. Mystery Minis. The range includes 12 teeny tiny figures, all sealed up in blind bags.
The set includes a real mix of characters, taken from Warner Bros’. current portfolio of cartoon stars and incorporates Hanna-Barbera ‘toons as well as Looney Tunes icons. The set includes: Fred Flintstone, Dino, Yogi Bear, Boo Boo, Huckleberry Hound, Bugs Bunny (see above), Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Quick Draw McGraw and Tom & Jerry.
Priced at £6.99 a pop and available from specialist retailers and comic book stores, these mini figures are extremely collectable and are easily my favourite set from all the Mystery Mini figures released so far. I am already eager to track down the remaining 11 characters and I am hopeful a follow-up set will be released in the not-too distant future (you listening, Funko?).
As with most products released by Funko, these Mystery Minis are designed to sit on a shelf and look pretty, so I can’t see much playability for kids. But for collectors and cartoon fanatics alike, Funko does it again and creates yet another great line to draw money out of our wallets.
Well played, Funko. Well played.
Mystery Minis are in shops now. The ratio of figures per case is as follows: Fred Flintstone (1/12), Dino (1/36), Yogi Bear (1/6), Boo Boo (1/36), Huckleberry Hound (1/12), Bugs Bunny (1/6), Daffy Duck (1/6), Foghorn Leghorn (1/72), Marvin the Martian (1/6), Quick Draw McGraw (1/72), Tom (1/24) & Jerry (1/24).
